Scar treatment
Depending on its size, shape, colour or position, a scar can be disfiguring; scar tension or shrinking may even reduce the patient’s growth or freedom of movement. Surgery should only be an option if conservative methods like massages or ointments have proven ineffective. In this case, there are various surgical methods to remove or reduce scars caused by burns, accidents or surgery. Tried and proven techniques include dermabrasion, scar transfer and skin grafting.
Scar surgery can bring considerable visual improvement, though particularly big or deep scars can rarely be removed completely.
In a comprehensive and individual consultation we can also discuss further methods of scar revision, such as tattooing, filler injections or laser treatment.
