Univ.-Prof. Dr. Heribert Hussl

Heribert Hussl has been university professor for plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery since 1992. He maintains a private practice in Innsbruck, Austria.

Professor Hussl graduated as an MD from Innsbruck Medical School (Tyrol, Austria) and trained as a specialist in plastic surgery at the University Clinic for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Innsbruck. He acquired extensive international experience while working at recognised plastic surgery centres abroad:

  • Germany: Hamburg (Dept. of hand surgery, Prof. D. Buck-Gramcko); Stuttgart (Prof. W. Gubisch)
  • UK (East Grinstead, London – Mount Vernont/Vernon, Glasgow)
  • Australia (Melbourne, Prof. B. O Brien)
  • USA: Springfield/Illinois (Prof. Zoog, Prof. R. C. Russell), Chicago (Prof. M. E. Tardy)
  • Mexico – Guadalajara (Prof. J. Guerrero Santos)
  • Argentina– Buenos Aires (Prof. J. Yuri)
  • Brazil – Rio de Janeiro (Prof. I. Pitanguy)

As deputy head of the Department of Plastic Surgery in Innsbruck, Professor Hussl has been in charge of three bilateral hand transplantations in 2000, 2003 und 2006.

Together with S. Pechlaner and F. Kerschbaumer, he has published the Atlas of Hand Surgery, a standard work on this field of surgery.

He is a member of numerous medical societies:

Professor Hussl performs plastic and aesthetic surgery in his private practice and at Hochrum Private Hospital (“Sanatorium der Kreuzschwestern”) near Innsbruck, Austria.
